Colman Infant and Junior School

Geography

About Our Geography Curriculum

It is the intent of the curriculum to:

  • build knowledge about the local community, the United Kingdom and the wider world
  • build knowledge about key geographical features
  • develop skills that allow them to locate and compare different localities near and far

Geography is taught using the structure and sequence of CUSP in two blocks each half term. Lessons will include key tier III vocabulary to build children’s skills working with geographical information. Lessons will revisit past learning, introduce new knowledge and engage children in activity participation in their learning. Children will be assessed in their learning through low stakes quizzing or other measures.
